Ronald McDonald
House Charities

Ronald McDonald House Canberra gives seriously ill children the best gift of all – their families. Our warm and supportive home-away-from-home provides the whole family with a comfortable place to stay and peace of mind,

Our House is uniquely located inside the Centenary Hospital for Women and Children. Our aim is to take some of the stress out of being away from home during a long and difficult journey and provide a supportive environment in the company of other families going through similar experiences.

About RMHC

Our big red doors of Ronald McDonald House Canberra opened on the 16th of October 2012, and in almost ten years we have welcomed over 2,800 families to our home-away-from-home.

Each month on average, our Family Room has around 850 visitors caring for their sick child.

To keep our programs running to support these families in need, we aim to raise $550,000 every year. With the onset of COVID-19, we are going to continue to evolve our much-loved Red Wig Run event and keep it as a virtual event that everyone can join.

Ronald McDonald House Charities ACT and SE NSW focus on the simple notion that nothing else should matter when a family is battling for the health of their child, not where they will get their next meal or lay their head to rest every night.

“I’ve loved having the opportunity to work with RMHC over the past year. The charity has opened my eyes to how many families rely on this amazing service and without it, so many regional and rural families struggling with the difficulties of having seriously ill kids, would be facing further hardship. The house doesn’t just provide shelter, it provides a home away from home thanks to incredible staff and volunteers and its the community of RMHC which these families cherish for years to come. It’s an honour to be apart of such a wonderful organisation.”
