Triathlon for Clancy

I am training to participate in the Hamilton Island Sprint Triathlon on the 19th of November. Which is just short of a week before my best friend's first baby was due to be born.

However Clancy joined us on the 10th of September at 29 weeks and 2 days old and has spent the past 5 and a half weeks in Canberra’s Neonatal intensive care unit which is only half of the stay he has ahead. Clancy Boy has already faced many hurdles and challeneges in this 5 weeks, including 2 major surgeries requiring intense recovery and rest and will undergo one more surgery before he can start his life at home in Wagga Wagga with his Mum and Dad. 

His beautiful parents are lucky enough to have been supported by Ronald McDonald house during this difficult time. The House is uniquely located inside the hospital just downstairs from where Clancy is in the NICU. Caitlin and Charlie are forever grateful for this charity and everything they offer, from the staff and volunteers constant care and support, the weekly home cooked meals from various companies in the Canberra community, to having a roof over their head and a bed to stay in that’s so close to their young boy that needs them around the clock. 

Please help me in raising some money to give back to this amazing charity that are supporting my strong besties everyday during this journey. 

The next 4.5 weeks Clancy needs to keep growing strong and recovering from his last surgery before undergoing his final surgery once he is full term. Then fingers crossed he can rest at home in Wagga Wagga & meet all his beautiful family & friends.

So for the next 4.5 weeks I will be running, swimming and cycling my way around Hamilton Island in preparation for the Triathlon. Clancy’s name means Warrior and that is exactly what he has proven to be so far and is inspiring me to be a warrior in the fitness field.
