Baby Halle was born at 26 week. For parents Kim and Grant it was the most terrifying time of their life.
Born at only 750 grams, Halle had an uncertain future ahead, for mum Kim everything moved rapidly—there was little time to plan or prepare for the emotional and financial toll ahead.
Amid the chaos, the Kim and Grant discovered Ronald McDonald House Canberra. The same day Kim was discharged from hospital, a room became available. This provided her a supportive environment just steps from her newborn daughter in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. RMHC became the family’s home for the next 96 nights.
Through her stay at RMHC Kim found comfort, community, and lasting friendships with families experiencing similar challenges. Halle, though fragile, proved resilient—surviving multiple medical procedures, including blood transfusions, breathing support, and treatment for a heart defect. Despite a terrifying moment when Halle stopped breathing, she pulled through.
Without supporters like you donating to RMHC, nearby accommodation would have cost nearly $20,000 for Halle's parents—an impossible burden.
RMHC became more than just a place to sleep—it was a sanctuary of support, friendship, and hope during one of the most difficult chapters in their lives.
